After the recording of Out to Lunch, Eric Dolphy went to Europe to tour with Charles Mingus in a widely acclaimed tour. Sadly, these concerts would turn out to be Dolphy's last ever, as he died of a diabetic coma at age 36, making Out to Lunch his last ever rock.blackhammerfelhaninshawield.infoinfo: Zen Archer.

Eric Dolphy Out To Lunch 9 () Hat And Beard / Something Sweet / Gazzelloni / Out To Lunch! / Straight Up And Down. Eric Dolphy was moving forwards, experimenting, acheiving. Not one for the faint of heart - this isn't easy listening Jazz. This is challenging, free form and experimental, sometimes dissonant but always melodic and rewarding.

Out To Lunch is certainly Eric Dolphy's most adventurous album and his most self consistent attempt at freedom within some, at least of the confines established by bop writing. Dolphy was never at his best in a context like the Coltrane Quartet where the bulk of the solo work was extended harmonic development over a relatively stable rhythmic line.

Oct 20,  · referencing Out To Lunch!, LP, Album, RE, ST, BST , , B An interesting work of Avantgarde art by a master jazz musician. This record is a real statement of an individuals sound and ideas on how music can be played and demands a listener that’s willing to go along for a pretty wild ride/5(K).

Dolphy's compositions are the inspiration for many tribute albums, such as Oliver Lake's Prophet and Dedicated to Dolphy, Jerome Harris' Hidden In Plain View, Otomo Yoshihide's re-imagining of Out to Lunch!, Silke Eberhard's Potsa Lotsa: The Complete Works of Eric Dolphy, and Aki Takase and Rudi Mahall's duo album Duet For Eric rock.blackhammerfelhaninshawield.infoinfo: June 20, , Los Angeles, California, United States.

Nov 28,  · Eric Dolphy- Out to Lunch Blue Note Records 75th Anniversary Edition from 's Original Master Eric Dolphy is one of the most infamous/influential figures in the history of jazz. His brand of jazz was not rooted in blues but in classical music, hence his compositions and his playing technique taking on a more angular approach/5(79).

Jan 26,  · Get the daggers out -- music from an iconic album has been tampered with: Eric Dolphy's Blue Note session Out to rock.blackhammerfelhaninshawield.infoinfo this recording by Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Orchestra, all five compositions from the original quintet LP are revisited in the same order, and the clever CD sleeve even duplicates the old album jacket, down to the typeface and black-and-blue color 8/

Eric Dolphy was a true original with his own distinctive styles on alto, flute, and bass clarinet. His music fell into the "avant-garde" category yet he did not discard chordal improvisation altogether (although the relationship of his notes to the chords was often pretty abstract).
